Researchers have speculated that women’s more robust immune system might put them at a lower risk and that biological factors drive men’s disadvantage to some extent. However, there are likely additional social factors that have contributed to men’s greater risk. Draw on at least two course materials assigned this week to speculate what social factors and gendered expectations might be contributing to men’s worse outcomes from COVID-19.
