unit 2 assignment

The Edward Snowden story has captured the interest of constitutionalists around the country. Edward Snowden’s conduct related to his role with the NSA is controversial, on many levels. This assignment seeks to vet those issues, from a 4th Amendment privacy perspective. Review the following videos. Using this information, as well as your own independent research, submit a 2-3 page paper, in APA formatting, addressing the following:

  1. Conduct a “yes” and “no” analysis of the role of electronic surveillance in 4th Amendment jurisprudence. Listen to the following NPR program:  1.- Debate: Does Mass Phone Data Collection Violate The 4th Amendment? (Approximately 50 minutes). First, articulate, in your own words, what you believe to be the strongest argument in favor of the debate question (the “yes” perspective), and what you believe to be the weakest argument against the debate question (the “no” perspective). Remember, the debate question is: Does Mass Phone Data Collection Violate the 4th Amendment?
  2. Based on the NPR presentation, and what you’ve learned about 4th Amendment law, articulate your position on the issue, providing support in your response.
  3. Finally, review this 2.-  short video of Edward Snowden, of NSA fame, and provide an opinion as to whether you agree with his position regarding the 4th Amendment’s protections. Make sure to support your position.
